U15s lead the way!
27/02/2008

Also in Cheshire this week were the youngest league squad, sitting safely in 5th position before the day we were looking to put in a good enough performance to keep us there and maybe progress up to 3rd place. v Cumbria. Some outstanding well worked hockey from the girls lead to Jenny Wilson putting away a superb flick in the first few minutes. The ball was moved around beautifully by the girls who showed just what they could do when given the chance to shine. Fantastic tackling at the back from Hannah and Charlotte G meant that Cumbria were kept at bay. After myself and Mo wondered why Alex wouldnt shoot when at top D she proved exactly what her shooting skills were like with a fantastic lifted shot to beat the keeper. Despite getting Sarah sent off for a poor tackle (power crazy umpire!) the girls held the Cumbria team to 2-0 for the first half. Cumbria put one past Thea but some more well worked hockey lead to Alex cooly slipping another ball past the Cumbria keeper from the most horrendous angle to make the score 3-1. v Cheshire The girls worked hard but struggled with the more physical style of play from Cheshire and with Catherine splitting her lip open and Nicole getting a nasty cut across the hand we were a little lacking in bodies to play on the pitch. Despite Jenny getting wiped out on a short corner we couldnt seem to get the umpire to give us another one! Cheshire proved to much for the girls and eventually came away 6-0 winners. well played girls just west yorkshire left now!
