U18s FINALLY SCORE!!! 27/02/2008Of to Cheshire this week for the South Yorkshire U18s dancers and with a full (and fit squad) we thought we might stand a chance of winning!!
After a bit of sudoko and colouring on the bus the girls were ready to face their last league matches.
With Emma Singleton bravely stepping up from the U16s to the U18s with keeper Eve out injured the girls were off. An unlucky goal from Cumbria completely against the run of play meant the girls were under even more pressure to find the back of the net for the first time. With Sarah, claire and sarah forcing save after save from the Cumbria GK it looked like we would find the net at some point! Sadly it just wasnt our day and we couldnt find the back of the net and came off 1-0 down.
Next came Cheshire. The game was deadlocked for most of the time until Cheshire found the net through a well worked short corner. After the girls worked out how to ride through CHeshires more 'unusual' method of tackling without losing a limb, we were off and kelly found the back of the net with not just any old goal but a spectacular lob of the keeper from the top of the D from a rebounded save after a lovely shot from Sarah Coggin. Sadly we couldnt keep Cheshire at bay and they put one past in the last minute to make it 2-1.
Well done girls, we still have the tournament to play and im sure we will find our first win of the season there!
xx
