At their first meeting in 2005, the panel set their own aims:
To be seen as role models to young people within hockey across the North
To input as appropriate to decisions made by senior committee’s (i.e. North Youth)
To assist in the organisation of key events in the North (e.g. North Youth festival)
To provide the opportunity for panel members to work in partnership with England Hockey, North HA and other relevant partners
To develop panel members personal skills
Create and drive projects to develop youth hockey in the region
“I helped organised The Yazoo North Youth Hockey Festival 2007. I helped designed the flyer which gave information on what the event was about, and how to apply. At the event itself I was given lots of opportunities to experience different volunteer roles , I helped with car parking duty, manned the ball speed challenge, was a results runner, timekeeper, result recorder, raffle ticket seller and acted as a buddy to the Young Leaders who were participating in the first ever North Young Leader Challenge. I really enjoy the meetings, they are fun, and we eat pizza!” (Murray Fotheringham – North Hockey Youth Panel Member)
How can I apply to be on the North Hockey Youth Panel?
We are looking to appoint a further 5 members to the Panel. This role is subject to a satisfactory CRB enhanced level check that will be carried out through England Hockey for all applicants over the age of 18. If you are interested in joining the Panel, and are aged 16 – 25 with a background in coaching, umpiring, officiating, leadership, or general volunteering please fill out the attached application form and return to it BEFORE 16 NOVEMBER 2007 to:
